Tivoli Gardens is one of Copenhagen’s most famous attractions. Located right in the city centre, this magical amusement park combines nostalgia, music and thrill rides in one unforgettable experience. Opened in 1843, Tivoli is one of the oldest amusement parks in the world and still welcomes millions of visitors every year.
Among the roller coasters and gardens you will find a large open-air stage where live concerts take place every Friday from April to September. This summer tradition is called Fredagsrock, or Friday Rock, and it is one of the city’s best outdoor music events.
The concerts range from pop and rock to indie, soul and hip hop. Most of the artists are Danish, but every season also includes major international names. In recent years, stars such as Snoop Dogg, Jamie Cullum and Jessie J have performed for huge crowds under the lights of Tivoli.
The best part is that the concerts are included in the regular entrance ticket to Tivoli Gardens, which costs around 100 DKK. You can enjoy the rides during the day, grab some street food and end the evening with live music on the lawn.
If you are in Copenhagen during summer, spending a Friday night at Fredagsrock is a must. Just show up, find a spot on the grass and enjoy the atmosphere with locals and travellers from all over the world.
