Meals and Use of Guest Kitchens

Breakfast at Danhostel
A good day starts with a good breakfast – and at all Danhostels in Denmark, you can enjoy a healthy and delicious morning meal. Danhostel follows a minimum breakfast standard that ensures variety and quality:
- Fresh bread and butter
- Yoghurt and dairy products
- Cornflakes, oatmeal and muesli
- Cheese, jam, marmalade and honey
- Cold cuts and spreads
- Milk, juice, coffee and tea
At most hostels, breakfast is served as a buffet, and you can order it the evening before. Prices are typically under 100DKK per person, making it one of the best-value hostel breakfasts in Denmark.
Families benefit from special breakfast deals, and children under 12 often enjoy half-price breakfast and dinner packages (not valid for groups).
Dinner Options
Several Danhostels also serve dinner at a set time each day. This option is popular with families, groups and solo travellers who want a convenient meal after a day of sightseeing. Dinner usually needs to be ordered in the morning, and in some cases a minimum number of orders is required for the kitchen to open.
If dinner is not available, your hosts are always ready to recommend affordable local restaurants nearby, so you can still enjoy a tasty and budget-friendly evening meal.
Guest Kitchens – Cook Your Own Meals
For those who prefer self-catering, every Danhostel in Denmark has a guest kitchen. These kitchens are fully equipped with:
- Ovens, stoves and fridges
- Coffee machines and kettles
- Pots, pans, cutlery and tableware
Some hostels offer disposable tableware or request a small deposit for borrowing kitchen equipment. Guest kitchens are intended for single travellers and families – they are not available for large groups.
Having access to a guest kitchen makes it easy to cook your own meals, prepare picnics for day trips or save money on dining out. It’s a popular choice for backpackers, budget travellers and families who want more flexibility.
