Danhostels Awarded the Green Key Label

For the environmentally conscious hostel guest

The Green Key is an eco-label awarded to tourism establishments, including hostels. To earn this environmental certificate, the Danhostel must meet a wide range of environmental requirements, such as water and energy savings, waste sorting, use of eco-friendly cleaning products, and organic ingredients.

This means that Green Key-certified Danhostels offer a particularly sustainable holiday experience for their guests. See which ones at the bottom of the page.

Danhostel Skanderborg – Focused on Sustainability

For many years, we have worked actively with sustainability—whether it’s using smaller plates to reduce food waste or optimizing our energy use through heat pumps and solar panels. We inform all our guests that waste sorting helps protect the environment. In 2020, we eliminated 6,000 plastic bags annually by removing bin liners from the room waste bins. Guests have welcomed this change, and more initiatives are on the way.

Danhostel Skanderborg wants guests to gain a broader understanding of its sustainability efforts and be part of the journey. Their vision for 2020/21 is:

"To strengthen customer awareness of Danhostel Skanderborg and its use of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, as well as sustainability in operations and strategy."
