Kronborg Castle
Kronborg Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the manicured garden, beautiful tapestries and rooms, which include the 63-m long banquet hall called Knights’ Hall which is Northern Europe's largest. Don't be scared when you visit Holger Danske who sleeps in the casemates. He only wakes up and springs into action if Denmark needs him. Kronborg Castle is worth a visit especially if you stay just across the water at Danhostel Helsingør. Fredensborg Castle
Fredensborg Castle, known for its copper spire, moat and beautiful Baroque garden, is called the Versailles of Denmark. If you stay at Danhostel Fredensborg, you are in the backyard of Queen Margrethe’s residence and can easily enjoy walks in the beautiful castle park. Roskilde
Roskilde Cathedral is the burial place of Danish monarchs. The city of Roskilde is home to the Viking Ship Museum which displays five original ships recovered from Roskilde Fjord. They shed light on how the Vikings lived 1,000 years ago. Aske the staff about the Viking ships and the city of Roskilde, Denmark's former capital. Danhostel Roskilde is next to the Viking Ship Museum located in the middle of Roskilde harbour.

Tisvildeleje and Surrounding Areas
This beautiful area offers fantastic natural surroundings and a beach. Many visit the speciality shops, Hundested Harbour and picturesque Gilleleje during the summer season. Stay at Danhostel Tisvildeleje or Danhostel Frederiksværk, and be close to everything.

Frederiksborg Castle
Take a trip to Fredensborg Castle where the beautiful buildings, lake and well-kept castle garden are just some of what you can expect to see. Relax in the café at the bottom of the castle garden. Visit the par force hunting grounds, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located on the outskirts of Hillerød and spend the night at Danhostel Hillerød, neighbour to Fredensborg Castle.

West of Isefjord
Do not overlook the area of Isefjord in West Zealand if you want to enjoy beautiful surroundings, culture and attractions close to North Zealand. Visit Røsnæs with its famous lighthouse. Take a trip to Kalundborg, a medieval city, and view the Church of Our Lady. After a long day, dine at Restaurant Bispegården located just 300 m from Danhostel Kalundborg. Sjællands Odde, a 15-km long peninsula, is north of the hostel, while Nyrup Bay has beautiful beaches and fishing opportunities. Ossherred, home to the only UNESCO-protected Geopark in Denmark, is worth seeing. Stay at Danhostel Nykøbing Sjælland, located just 100 m from Isefjord and Anneberg Forest.

Take a trip on the beautiful Danish Monastic Route (Den Danske Kloserrute) which is a hiking route with roads and trails. The route winds past idyllic monasteries, castle ruins, pleasant villages and through Denmark’s fourth-largest forest, Gribskov. Cycle on a well-developed network of routes near beautiful scenery and local attractions. End your trip in Kalundborg in West Zealand, and ride on an Icelandic horse along the banks of the freshwater lake, Tissø.
