Lolland – Nature, History and Family Fun

The island of Lolland is often called the “Pancake Island” because of its flat landscape, but it offers much more than wide horizons. Here you’ll find Knuthenborg Safari Park, Denmark’s largest wildlife park with rhinos, tigers, giraffes and monkeys.

Stay at Danhostel Sakskøbing, located in a charming market town with a historic harbour, or at Danhostel Maribo, beautifully placed by Maribo Lakes Nature Park. From Maribo you can take boat trips, visit Maribo Cathedral, or explore the surrounding forests and lakes – a paradise for hiking, cycling and birdwatching.

Lolland is also home to Fuglsang Art Museum, one of Denmark’s finest collections of 19th and 20th century Danish art, and the spectacular Dodekalitten, 12 giant stone sculptures set in the open landscape. Whether you’re looking for nature, culture or family activities, Lolland has something for everyone.
