Danhostel Rødding, located in the oldest folk high school, offers low-priced holidays in 6 self-contained cabins (accommodation price includes heat, electricity and final cleaning). The hostel is part of Danhostel Rødding Centre. Both are under the same roof. 

Start your holiday with a movie in our cinema with two halls. Swim in our water park, eat dinner in our Café Goma and end the day by challenging your friends and family to a game of bowling. Use our swimming pool and fitness centre free of charge during normal business hours. Our hall and playroom are available daily on a first-come, first-served basis. You get a free "Be Happy Pass" on arrival at our Danhostel for LEGOLAND in Billund which offers experiences and surprises for the children.

Please note that there is no kitchen in our Centre.

Rødding Centre

Rødding Centre was known as Rødding-Hallerne until 2003. C. Kamedula and a group of volunteers initiated the management of the town’s first sports centre in 1964, and a swimming pool (the only swimming pool constructed in Denmark using voluntary help) was added ten years later. A cinema, library, youth club and Local History Archive were completed in 2013, then, in 2018, physiotherapy, wellness treatments and cabins were added. Danhostel Rødding Centre is a sport and cultural centre for people of varying ages and interests, so if you need an active holiday and reasonably priced accommodation, choose Danhostel Rødding and Rødding Centre. You and your family are guaranteed an enjoyable stay.

Experiences

Enjoy exciting experiences such as the folk high school, Kongeåen, several plantations and the sculpture, Trold. Vejen offers unique cultural and historical offerings of the region. Rivers, meadows, plains, valleys, beech forests and shallow lakes are just some of the beautiful sights. Enjoy the natural surroundings on foot, by bicycle or water. Purchase breakfast in our Café Goma, enjoy it in our Bio Café and discuss your plans for active holidays and experiences over our breakfast buffet.

Rødding and Rødding Højskole  

Rødding Folk High School (Rødding Højskole) is just 300 m from the town centre.  It was founded in 1844 and is Denmark's oldest and the world's first folk high school.  After a few difficult years, it reopened in 1920. The building was originally a manor house. Although there have been several renovations over the years, the original style was maintained. Rødding Folk High School sits in a large, beautiful park. Tours of the folk high school are possible for large groups by appointment.

Rødding town has several shops with clothes, jewellery, books, etc. Book dinner at the town’s hotel.

Border History and Tour of Foldingbro

From 1864 to 1920, the historic border town of Foldingbro experienced phenomenal growth. It had two inns within 250 m of each other and two customs services and two police forces (one on each side of the river Kongeåen). Take a walk in Foldingbro and discover the border town’s hidden history using your smartphone.

Jels

The scenic area of Jels has lakes, trails and several opportunities for activities such as golf, walking, sailing, cycling and angling. Sail in a canoe or kayak on Lakes Jels Nedersø and Jels Midtsø. Take a morning dip at Jels Harbour Bath (equipped with new bathing bridges and changing rooms) regardless of the season and get a good start to the day. Enjoy the tranquillity and re-charge your batteries.

Ribe

Ribe, Denmark's oldest town, lies only 15 minutes from the town centre. The area is beautifully situated close to marshland, Ribe River, the Kammer Sluice (Kammerslusen) and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Wadden Sea National Park. Ribe Cathedral, built at the beginning of the 12th century, rises majestically over the old town in Ribe and can be seen from a distance. In 2014, Ribe won the title of "Europe's most beautiful small town". Learn more here.
